The landing gear design is one of the kernel parts in helicopter design, and the performance of itsdesign influences the safety of helicopter directly. The traditional design method of landing gear forhelicopter is complex in calculation and large in computing capacity. In this dissertation, combiningrapid design technology with landing gear design, a rapid design method of landing gear forhelicopter is developed to improve the design efficiency and shorten the design cycle. The maincontents of this dissertation are summarized as below:[1] Based on design specifications such as landing gear design manual, combined with helicopterlanding gear’s characteristics, the process and methodology of landing gear design is analyzed.The dissertation mainly researches how to distribute load to find balance, choose the appropriateaircraft type, choose the layout type and the landing gear structure type, design the intersectiondata of landing gear and calculate the parameter of the shock absorber.[2] Researching the methods of secondary development for CATIA, based on the analysis ofsimplified model of landing gear, CATIA is secondary developed to parametric design and rapidmodel landing gear parts.[3] Based on above researches, a rapid design method of landing gear for helicopter is integrated. Arapid landing gear design software is developed, which is written in VB6.0. The software canhelp users finish designing landing gear for helicopter and modeling landing gear parts.[4] The landing gear design of a helicopter weighing7000kg is taken as the target. The design of itslanding gear and modeling the landing gear parts is accomplished by using the rapid landing geardesign method and software. The test example proves the efficiency and applicability of the rapiddesign method and software.The rapid design method and software can not only improve the design efficiency and shortenthe design cycle, but also provide convenience for subsequent performance analysis. The software hasa certain practical value in the actual engineering aspect.
