Rutting is one of the dominant types of asphalt pavement diseases, fastand reliabledepth test results are important basis for the pavement condition evaluation and thechoice of maintenance measures. Currently widely used multi-point laser detectionequipment solves the speed and accuracy problems to a certain degree, but its reliabilityis influenced by testing equipment accuracy, depth calculation principle, detectionprocess control and a variety of factors, which restricts the scientific and finedevelopment of Highway Maintenance Management.Based on the laterally offset error algorithm, combined with the analog section ofthe rut depth were compared. This paper studies the comparison of rutting depthalgorithm and lateral offset error based on multi-point laser measurement data andcombined with imitated section. In a country road in Jiangsu Province as the basis, incontrast to domestic and evaluation on the basis of determining generated and dividedinto light, medium and heavy stalls severity, analysis and detection sections rut shapeand depth distribution. The critical depth of rutting is determined and rutting is dividedinto three levels as light, medium and heavy based on the comparison of abroad anddomestic evaluation index according to a national highway in Jiangsu Province. Therutting shape and depth distribution on testing sections are analyzed. Undering thepremise of the definition of main causes of domestic rutting, the characteristics of atypical cross-section are analyzed and the relationship of the rutting shape and causes isestablished combined with the results of the field survey. Secondly, cross-sectionswhich vary with different algorithms are identified according to the rut shapes definedby the specification. The influence of two factors as rut shape and depth on algorithmdifferences are studied with the combination of real and imitated cross-sections.Andspecific one-dimensional cross-sectional rutting indicators are defined. Finally, to themechanism of lateral offset error is explored based on the principle of rut depthcalculation,.from the two perspectives of vehicle offset and cross-sectional, four impactindicators are selected as the horizontal offset distance and direction, shape and depth ofthe rut to evaluate the variation of error with different offset conditions. And the offsetdifference limits are given with allowable error. This paper studies the error calculation process for the rut depth, aiming toimprove the reliability of the depth test results and our existing rut detection technology.Research can enhance the level of our highway asphalt pavement rut detection andanalysis of and to promote the scientific and fine development of Highway MaintenanceManagement.
