Highway has high demand to the subgrade stability. The study of weatheredgranite material still cannot solve the problems appeared in the design andconstruction processes. So the research to the weathering mechanism andcharacteristics and the road features of the weathered granite materials have importantsignificanceThe Mohr round strength envelope of weathered granite under the condition ofCU has been obtained through the large compression test and triaxial shear test (CU).It shows that the cohesive force of strongly weathered granite is reduced after the firstincreases to a certain value at the same time the internal friction Angle is persistentreduced. The results of large-scale triaxial shows that the strength of floodedweathered granite hasn’t reduce and performance is stable. This results meansweathered granite is suitable for being roadbed filling.The slope stability and the influence of rainfall to the slope security status havebeen analyzed by the finite element methods, and the better form of slope has beenconfirmed. the results showed that the rainfall has big influence to the embankmentfilled by weathered granite and protection measures must been taken.The embankment deformation characteristics has been analyzed by the methodsof finite element and field monitoring, and the stability of high fill embankment hasbeen analyzed by FLAC3D and Duncan-Zhang mode.The numerical calculationresults show that the high embankment of weathered granite on flat and weaklyweathered rock foundation has very small settlement which is satisfy the specificationrequirements.The high fill embankment on slope has smeller settlement at theshoulders than the central zone and through band and the results of numericalcalculation is according with the results of field measurement.
