| Three decades of rapid development and dual ownership structure created a typicalphenomenon of city village in Shenzhen. In addition to the economic and institutionalsystem reasons,‘village in city’ is especially significant to its urban cultural ecology. Itis not only the guardian of Shenzhen local culture, but also highlights the immigrantculture characteristics. With the expanding demand for space during city development, the reconstruction of villages became the most efficient way to release stock land andimprove land use efficiency. However, village reconstruction lacks concern for culturalaspects with economic interests as the starting point. Also urban functions and spaceupgrades often take the expense of destruction of cultural ecology. To maintain the sustainable development of cultural ecology during city villagereconstruction, the evolution and performance of cultural ecology have to be definitefirstly. Based on practical experience of cultural ecology in urban planning, the culturalecosystem of Shenzhen city village is constructed by three important aspects–overallstructure, culture cluster and culture chain. At current stage, village reconstruction existproblems in research range limitations, incomplete structure and closed border region inspace structure of cultural ecosystem; problems in living space, traditional worshipspace, and public service facilities among cultural cluster; problems in link function, space classification and culture bearer of cultural chain. On the basis of above problem analysis, research on space strategy of culturalecosystem during village reconstruction contains three aspects-overall structure, culture cluster and cultural chain. Overall structural strategies include expansion ofresearch range on reconstruction planning, strengthening of space structural integrityand establishment of open community boundaries. In aspects of culture cluster, thethesis also presents reconstruction strategies for its three types in living space, traditional worship space, and public service facilities. For cultural chain, it carries outreconstruction strategies at three levels of space corridor link, space classification andcultural connotation bearer. This thesis will provide a perspective of cultural ecology for the reconstructionplanning and design of Shenzhen city village, a planning and design guideline ofphysical space for the city protection of diverse ‘culture species’, and a contribution ofsustainable development for the cultural ecology characteristics of Shenzhen city. |
