Traditional villages are the product of farming civilization and the bridge and carrier between people and the land. The spatial pattern of traditional villages interacts well with the surrounding regional environment and cultural circles.Culture is the soul of traditional villages. The 800-count Qinchuan carries the heavy Guanzhong culture and has given birth to many distinctive traditional villages.Villages are the epitome of social changes and historical culture in Xi'an.In recent years, the rapid development of urbanization has exacerbated the destruction of traditional villages in Xi'an.The village's spatial form, ecological environment, and cultural species have all been irreversibly destroyed. The protection of traditional villages in Xi'an is imminent. The theory of cultural ecology is gradually being taken seriously by architecture and planning scholars. The systematic values of its scientific development can be used as a link connecting traditional village space, ecology, and culture,so that traditional villages can be protected as a whole. Therefore, based on the study of the basic concept of cultural ecology, this paper draws on the systematic theory, symbiosis, pluralism, and ecological evolution theory of cultural ecology to construct the cultural ecology research framework of the traditional village spatial form, and believes that the traditional village is formed by the cultural and ecological matrix and A complete cultural ecosystem composed of cultural and ecological communities. The ecosystems, cultures, and spatial forms of subsystems that are involved in each other influence and coordinate each other to maintain the balance and normal operation of the cultural ecosystem. This article selected three typical villages in the traditional villages of Xi'an—the plain-type Nandoujiao, the Beibeizhai Village of the Loess Plateau, and the old-style county-village village of the mountainous landscape. These were systematically studied.Expounded, from the perspective of cultural ecology, analyzed the cultural and ecological environment, the types of cultural species, and the spatial morphological characteristics of different types of traditional villages in Xi'an,and the correlation between the three. From the perspective of cultural ecology, the problems existing in the traditional village spatial form in Xi'an are summarized: the impact of exotic cultural species on traditional cultural species, leading to the extinction of certain traditional cultural species, the gradual decline of cultural and ecological communities, and the balance of cultural ecology Destroyed and the lack of protection for the village's cultural and ecological protection.Based on this, this paper proceeds from the principle of maintaining the balance of cultural and ecological systems, proposes the protection and utilization strategies of the traditional village spatial forms in Xi'an,and proposes the protection of villages based on systematic, symbiotic, pluralistic, and live principles. The three strategies of condensing and strengthening the characteristics of cultural clusters, constructing and perfecting the cultural ecological chain, and guiding the reshaping of cultural clusters through space are also included. It is expected to continue the traditional village context of Xi'an and continue the overall shape of the traditional village space, enhance the vitality of the village, establish scientific and feasible protection values, and ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the village.
