Carbon removal with oxyhydrogen is a novel method for engine maintenance.It iswidely used because of its better performance, non-pollution, having no damage onengine, as well as many other advantages. Electrolyzer is the key device of a carbonremoval machine as the source of oxyhydrogen. Although the technology of waterelectrolysis has been mature, the efficiency around60%is not very high. So there willbe much heat generated while electrolyzing. The temperature in electrolyzer should beunder70℃allowing for the influence high temperature has on performance of sealingelement and electrolyzing efficiency. At the same time, a good control system isneeded to ensure that gas generating and carbon removing can operate safely, reliablyand coherently. Targeting on the carbon removal machine with a gas generatingcapacity of1500L/h, this paper analyzes the performance of the finned tube circulatingcooling system and designs a PLC control system for the machine.First, this paper analyze the theoretical decomposition voltage of waterelectrolysis, then compute the theoretical thermal power basing on the structure,dimension, working voltage and current of the electrolyzer. Sequently,the net thermalpower is acquired after analyzing the thermal heat dissipated through different ways.Secondly, after designing the structure and dimension of the fined tube, this paperanalyzes the heat dissipating performance of the fined tube under different air velocityand environment temperature with Fluent software. Then a design formula of thecooling system under different environment temperature is obtained, which willfacilitate the designing of the cooling system. Next, this paper simulates the changingprocess of the temperature in electrolyzer, which verifies that the very fined tube canguarantee the balance between thermal heat generating and dissipating.Lastly, a control system for the carbon removal machine is designed. The gasgenerating velocity is adjusted by the current output of the power for electrolyzer. Thecooling fan will be started to keep the electrolyzer under proper temperature when thetemperature is higher than70℃. A liquid level sensor and a fluid infusion pump ensurethat there is proper quantity electrolyte in the system. The voltage changes ofalternator and battery reflect the state of the engine. After carbon removing process,valves will be opened to vent the residual oxyhydrogen. Besides, the working statuscan be displayed on the human-machine interface in real time. The control systemguarantees that the carbon removal machine operates safely and reliably.
