| With the development of our country’s transportation, construction ofunderwater tunnel across rivers to promote economic and cultural developmentbetween regions has become a trend. As a techonology of tunnel construction,immersed tunneling method owns significant advantages such as short constructionperiod, low project cost, small project quantity, good anti-seismic performance, greatself-waterproof property, being suitable for soft soil foundation and so on, havingbeen widely used and well developed in actual engineering. Dry dock is one of theimportant factors of the immersed tunnel construction, precasting the immersed tube,floating and transporting it outside, whose construction scheme of location, scale andlayout will have a significant impact on the process of the immersed tube project andits engineering quality. This paper focuses on the construction requirement of theimmersed tube tunnel dry dock address for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge,and do research on its immersed tube tunnel dry dock site selection andenvironmental effects, by making analysis of each optional dock address within Pearlriver delta area about natural conditions, construction conditions, layout schemes,economic benefits and environmental impacts.Firstly, makes a comprehensive analysis of the various alternative dry dock siteabout their geographical position, construction conditions, water conditions andcovering area, and initially selects Tauren Island and Triangle Island located in the theocean experimental plot in Mantauran town, Zhuhai city, Guangdong province asalternative dry dock site, while the Tauren Island is connected with the GuishanIsland and Center Island owning great land reserves.Secondly, makes an detailed contrast and analysis on natural conditions, thearrangement of the channel transporting the immersed tube outside, the strutural styleof the hydraulic architecture, the managements of logistics and construction, theengineering quantity and the investment cost of the alternative dry dock site of TaurenIsland and Triangle Island, and chooses the Tauren Island as the better scheme whosenatural and construction conditions are regarded superior than the other while theinvestment cost is vastly less.Finally, mainly does a research on environment impacts made by engineering construction including ecological environment, water environment, atmosphereenvironment and residents living environment, and makes an environment evaluationand comparison and analysis of the construction of the alternative dry dock site ofTauren Island and Triangle Island based on aspects discussed above.In a word, this paper makes detailed analysis of the immersed tube tunnel dry docksite selection for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and its environmentalimpacts, the methods of scheme comparison for the dry dock address can be used andfurther developed in other similar engineering, and provides valuable ideas forreference for other immersed tube dry dock site selection. |
