With the rapid development of Chinese shipping industry, the number of vesselsincreases year by year, security of vessels becomes more of importance, thusemphasizing on a higher requirement of comprehensive quality for crews. Thevirtual-reality technology is applied to create a ship simulation and training systemwhich includes simulation, roaming, and learning. The system not only achieves thepurpose of training crews in low cost and high efficient condition, but also has greatsignificance to advance the development of the shipping industry.Aiming at the single-function and lacked-reality problems of current ship’ssimulation and training, this paper applies3D real-time simulation software and MFC todevelop a simulation and training system for ship’s host electromechanical equipmentwhich includes driving simulation, boats roaming and theoretical study based on the3Dmodel created by Creator and GL Studio and Vega Prime. The main contents of thispaper are as follows:Firstly, the paper analyzes the functional requirements and subject investigated ofthe system and designs the overall scheme of the system. The ship training system isdivided into driving simulation, boats roaming and theoretical study. This system isdeveloped by the way of multi-view, and the realization of multi-view in the commoncase and in the Vega Prime case is respectively analyzed and studied in the paper.Secondly, a virtual scene of system created by Lynx in Vega Prime reduces theworkload of programming greatly. At the same time, the functions such as motion mode,special effects, collision detection are added into the virtual scene and the defaultnavigation path of the free ships on the river is also designed in the virtual scene.Finally, the paper develop a turbine simulation, which is one of sub-module of thedriving simulation, for realizing the dynamic simulation of the ship’s hostelectromechanical equipment; develop map selection, expert system, artificialintelligence, and comprehensive evaluation, which also are the sub-module of thedriving simulation, for realizing the training function, expert system is the emphasizesfor the crew training; develop boats roaming and theoretical study for extending thetraining system. The module of boats roaming is designed to realize the function thatallow the crew to understand location and information of the electromechanicalequipment and the position of each cabin on the ship. The module of theoretical study is designed for learning electromechanical equipment knowledge, the rules and regulations,matters need attention and so on.
