With the rapid growth of economy and the continuous expansion of the city, thebuildings in the city are developed from multi-floors to high-rise and super high-rise,and the high-rise office building plays an important role in all high-rise buildings. It isdifficult for personnel evacuation, fire fighting and rescue in case of a high-rise buildingfire because of quickly spread speed and fire smoke etc. As the studies of personnelevacuation, fire fighting and rescue in high-rise office building in China are in apreliminary stage, the studies in this paper have an important theoretical significanceand practical value.The project is derived from the ministry of public security key research projects.The questionnaire survey and analysis on behavior of personnel evacuation are carriedon in this paper, after that, the earlier edition of the evacuation simulation package codedeveloped by our research team is improved. The questionnaire survey and analysis onbehavior and psychology of firemen during fighting and rescue in the building fires arealso carried on in this paper, a pre-arranged plan of fire fighting and rescue for thefiremen is proposed and discussed by a drill in a real high-rise office building. Theresrarch results of this paper are as follows:①Combining with the characteristics of high-rise office buildings, the surveymethods of social statistics and the basic theory of evacuation, a questionnaire onpersonnel safety evacuation behavior in high-rise office building is designed, the basicpersonnel characteristics, familiarity degree of fire safety equipments and thepsychological and behavioral characteristics in emergency are included in thequestionnaire. The questionnaire results show that most people are familiar with lightingevacuation indicator signs and fire fighting facilities in buildings; the first response, thechoice of evacuation routes and the response to smoke are reasonable. It reflects that thefire safety education has achieved a certain effect in recent years. But few people arestill lack on the knowledge of fire safety, as a result, fire safety education should bestrengthen continuely by fire department is suggested in this paper. Correlation analysisshows that sexuality, age, education background and safety training etc are the notablefactors on evacuation behavior, fire safety education should pay more atteatation onwomen, the elderly and young people, and regular special safety training can be carriedon at the same time. ②The earlier edition of the evacuation simulation package code ZGESS isimproved in new develop environment. Simple and useful function buttons are addedand the interface is better friendly, the method of personnel evacuation is also improved.In order to verify the reliability of the new package code, the calculation results in acase between the new package code and the commercial software Pathfinder arecompared. The analysis results of questionnaire survey on behavior and psychology offiremen during fighting and rescue in the building fires indicated that, the majority offiremen have the correct understanding on fire fighting and rescue. It embodies that thefiremen are in a high level of quality. The psychological education of firemen and firedrill should be strengthen continuely by fire department is suggested in this paper.③Strategy of fire fighting and rescue in high-rise office building is explained inthis paper, the choices of entrance and routes to the fire building is very important forthe firmen to fire fighting and rescue in case of a high-rise office building fire. Ahigh-rise office building is taken as an example, a pre-arranged plan of fire fighting andrescue is discussed and proposed by FDS simulation. And a drill in the building iscarried on and verified.
