The Study On Renewal Strategy Of Urban Industrial Heritage Under The Urban Catalyst Theory

Since reform and opening, with the rapid development of China’s urbaneconomy, in the joint effect of urban industrial transformation and restructuring,urban industrial heritage is facing the fate of being phased dismantling in the urbanrenewal process.The way of conventional "reinvent the wheel" resulting in a generallack of residents sense of belonging and serious damage for the historical context ofthe industrial heritage, which led a series of economic, cultural and social issues.As a method of urban design,"Urban Catalyst" emphasized that, withoutcompletely changing their characteristic attributes premise, by the transformation ofsmall-scale or introducing new elements to achieve an effective role in the revival ofthe surrounding area. Due to the condition factor of industrial heritage in city, the wayof renewal could lead a great impact not only in the industrial area, but also in theaspects of city’s economic, cultural and social, this is giving us an opportunity to use"urban catalyst" theory in the renewal. Therefore, this paper attempts to build therenewal strategy for industrial heritage under the "urban catalyst" theory, in order toachieve the purpose of the economic, cultural and social renaissance.Firstly, combing the city’s industrial heritage renewal related development intheory and practice, pointed out the confusion of urban industrial heritage renewalpractice, introduction of "urban catalyst" theory on the existing problems, andcombing the development in theoretical concepts, research status, characteristics andpractices. Then explore the potential qualities of industrial heritage on "catalyst-type" renewal, use examples of the domestic and foreign projects to explain the effect ofcatalyst in the industrial heritage renewal; According to "urban catalyst" theory andaction principle, propose principles and objectives of urban industrial heritagerenewal, propose strategies and application model, classify and explain each step of"Determine the original catalyst elements, shaping the catalyst media, control andadjust the catalyst"; After that, use Chaoyang industrial heritage project as a specificcase, propose specific design principles and objectives in detailed field research anddata analysis, further according to the specific strategies proposed in the previoussection, successively to achieve its "catalyst-type" renewal from the catalyst selectionand shaping to control and guide the development stages; Finally, summarize effectfeature of catalyst in the Chaoyang project and the influence on the city level， meanwhile illustrate the inadequacies of the article.Through this study, hoping to provide a theoretical reference for industrialheritage renewal practice, making from project design to the operational phase can bein theoretical guidance rational operating, expected by summarizing strategic ofurban industrial heritage renewal to treat urban development issues, in order toachieve the orderly and sustainable development of urban Construction in a broaderperspective.
