With the development of social economy and the improvement of livingstandards, the shopping center is getting more and more close to our life. Modernshopping center not only satisfies our needs of material consumption, but also drawspeople’s attention to its space quality and environmental details more than ever.Regarding the most common space in the shopping center—Gallery Space asthe breakthrough point, based on the conception and attribute of the gallery, combined with some typical examples, this thesis expounds spatial forms andfunctional features of the galleries in shopping centers. With the help of consumerscience, environmental psychology and other related theories, this thesis analyzesthe transformation of consumption pattern has inspired the design of gallery space inshopping centers. Meanwhile, this thesis explains the environmental features ofgallery space in malls and its influence on human psychology and behavior. What’smore this thesis puts forward the related design strategies. On the basis of the aboveresearch and analysis, it also resolves the design of gallery space in malls coveringthe aspects of the basic form and the combined form. Furthermore, it also establishesspace model for quantitative study. Finally, this thesis integrates the above researchresults, and sums up the design principles adapted to the gallery space in modernshopping centers, Which can serve as references of the design of future-proofingshopping centers.
