With the development of science and technology, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has beenwidely used in military and civilian aspects. Such as surveillance detection, electronic warfare, targetsimulation, battlefield assessment in military, and disaster relief, resource exploration, communicationrelay, meteorological observation in civilian aspect. UAV is developed quickly in many countriesbecause of it own characteristics.The object of this research is a small UAV’s launch system and recovery system. According tothe characteristics of this UAV, this paper chooses the plan of elastic ejection with parachute recoveryto ensure the safety of the aircraft. It discusses the overall design, detailed design, strength check andmechanical analysis and simulation of the ejection system in application of mechanical design theory,virtual prototype technology and finite element method. To recovery system, this paper discusses thedetailed design and strength check of the parachute. And it also has a numerical analysis of the flowfield when the parachute is steadily failing using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technology toensure the UAV’s falling speed meet the desigh requirements. According to some empirical formulas,this paper calculates the main parameters of the airbag including the height of the airbag, the initialpressure, relieving pressure, and the area of air outlet to insure the safety of the UAV.
