Aero piston engine demonstrated loads of advantages, like small size, light weight, high volumepower and low cost, etc. It remains be the main power plant of unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters.With the continuous enhancement of the requirements of the stability, reliability, development cycle andcosts, the electronic control system of aero piston engine also developed rapidly and witnessed lots ofimprovements. Based on an aero piston engine under modification, several key electronic controltechnologies were researched, major research work including design of engine electronic controller, thestudy of RTW automatic code generation technology, engine modeling and design of engine interfacesimulator based on model-based design (MBD) technique.Firstly, design an electronic controller of aero piston engine (based on DSP), and carry out tests onengine test bed, the newly developed electronic controller illustrates good performance and can fullymeet control requirements of aero piston engine. Secondly, the automatic code generation mechanism ofRTW was fully researched, propose a new development method for real-time engine simulation testplatform based on the automatic code generation capabilities of RTW by using of MATLAB and VCjointly. Thirdly, develop an aero piston engine interface simulator based on MBD technique, enginemodeling in MATLAB/SIMULINK, rapid prototyping of DSP based on the RTW automatic codegeneration capabilities, embed aero piston engine model into the simulator hardware platform based DSP.Finally, develop a supervisory control software based VC++, then build a hardware in loop simulationtest platform by using the electronic controller, interface simulator and supervisory control softwarethose developed in the paper and carry out simulation.Results show that using DSP technique, automatic code generated technology and MBD methodjointly over the development of aero piston engine electric control system demonstrates significantadvantages, not only the performance of the electronic control system be improved, but can enhanceefficiency, reduce development costs and shorten the development cycle.
