Switched reluctance motor (SRM) is a new type of special motor. And the switchedreluctance motor drive system has great advantage that compared to traditional AC and DCdrive system. Motor test is verification on the motor performances, which judge if the motormeets design specifications and safety requirements. The virtual instrument test system is adevice which is integrated by hardware and software, which is open and flexibility. Thevirtual instrument test system, which’s function has greatly improved, breaks the limitationsof traditional instruments. Based on the above, the paper propose the switched reluctancemotor test system based on virtual instrument, focusing on learning how to achieve motorautomatic test, such as load test and torque ripple test, by using virtual instrument.The paper focuses on the study goals of design switched reluctance motor test systemwith the application of virtual instrument. Firstly, in-depth study of the relevant literature athome and abroad of the motor testing and virtual instrument, analyzes the disadvantages oftraditional motor test and the advantages of virtual instrument. Secondly, analyze in thecharacteristics and the control strategies of switched reluctance motor in preparation for thedesign of the test system. On the basis, the paper comes to the overall analysis of the testsystem and hardware selection. Choose LabVIEW virtual instrument as developmentenvironment, design software programs and user interface according to switched reluctancemotor torque ripple characteristics and load characteristics which is non-sinusoidal. Besides,the test system, with great user-friendly operation and high security, provides other auxiliaryfunctions, such as report generation, data storage and login screen.On the basis of theoretical research and system design, the paper use a0.5kW threephase32/24pole switched reluctance motor as measured object. Regard WT3000precisionpower analyzer, DL750scope corder and DAS-100A data analysis software as measuringstandard, do some comparison with load test and torque ripple test to measure whether the testsystem meet the test accuracy or not. Experimental results show that test system havesufficient accuracy and can be used for actual production.
