Nowadays people’s life quality is improved, at the same time, the demand for automobile is more and more big, and the tail gas generated by the traditional car can be a serious threat to the environment, so the development of the green environmental protection of the vehicle has become a hot topic of concern. Electric car has the characteristics of low noise, no pollution and high energy utilization. It is an ideal means of transport. Which is suitable for Reluctance Motor Switched(SRM), which has the advantages of simple structure, strong durability, high starting torque, etc..The main body and the control system of switched reluctance motor are two important parts of the switched reluctance motor drive system. This paper first introduces the development of switched reluctance motor system. By comparing the operating principle and the basic structure of the switched reluctance motor drive system, the paper analyzes the operating principle and the advantages and disadvantages of the basic structure, and introduces several control modes of the switched reluctance motor. Then the topology structure, working principle, selection of relevant parameters and operating characteristics of the switched reluctance motor drive system are described in detail. The basic theory and the finite element analysis of the switched reluctance motor are analyzed in detail. Then according to the electric vehicle running demand and the electromagnetic field theory, a new type of structure switched reluctance motor is designed, which includes the design of structure parameters and the design of electromagnetic parameters. The parameters of the motor are calculated by using Mathcad. The load is reduced and the efficiency is improved. RMxprt Ansoft is used to optimize the design of the prototype, and the structure parameters and the system efficiency are analyzed. Based on the finite element analysis software Maxwell 2D Ansoft, a two dimensional finite element model of the prototype was built. The model was analyzed by dynamic and static analysis in 2D Maxwell software. The magnetic field distribution and the characteristics of the motor were obtained. In the end, the hardware circuit of the control system is designed, and the experimental platform of the switched reluctance motor is built, and the feasibility and reliability of the design are verified.
