Nearly twenty years, the mainland and Taiwan increasingly close economic andpersonnel exchanges.The future cross-strait personnel exchanges frequently in thefuture,but the transportation can not meet passengers’ needs.Therefore,manytransportation experts proposed to build Strait channel tunnel.To promote theconstruction of the Taiwan Strait Tunnel Project Process,from1998to2010,expertsand scholars on both sides has held eight seminars on building the Taiwan Straittunnel.During the seminar, experts and foreign experts discussed the necessity andfeasibility studies of the Taiwan Strait tunnel project.This paper focuses on sum up research results related to the Taiwan Strait tunnelby a number of scholars and experts,to do further research on Taiwan Strait tunnel.themain contents of this paper include:(1)Based on the north route of Taiwan Strait tunnel, design the vertical sectionand cross section of Taiwan Strait tunnel.(2)According to the number of passengers and different traffic conditions, tocalculate the amount of fresh air which is needed by passengers in tunnel;(3)According hydrometeorological conditions、geological conditions and theamount of fresh air which is needed by passengers in tunnel,to make the plan of fourshaft ventilation plan which break the tunnel into five sections;and make thepreliminary design of the shaft;(4)To make the design of the undersea station and the basic fire safety facilities intunnel in order to consider the disaster prevention and rescue;to make the preliminarydesign of the escape plan and fire rescue program the fire happen inside the tunnel.; tomake the preliminary design of ventilation and smoke extraction when the fire happeninside the tunnel.
