Setting box girders under main deck is a new kind of cabin type, called box girdercabin. Compared with ordinary cabin type, box girder cabin has better longitudinal strengthand sustained combat capability while being damaged, and it remotes ships vitalityremarkable. Ultimate strength calculation needs to take nonlinear problems intoconsideration but the solving method for nonlinear problems is not mature and thecalculation results are not accurate, so we need to use experimental method to research oncabin longitudinal ultimate strength and simulate the collapse process of cabin. Consideringthe size, the structural style of experimental model and yield strength of the material, thedesign of cabin ultimate strength model is the key of experiment.The article introduces some methods to solve ultimate strength problems, and focuseson the efficiency in the use of quasi-static method. Comparing the difference between “T”section bar and box girder, and then get the advantages of box girder cabin while broken byexternal force by makes comparisons between cabins to by finite element analysis. Finally,to get effective and economical experimental model, the article take design method of cabinultimate strength test model and get the suitable test model by such method.Main missions and Conclusions:1Searching information at home and abroad about box girder cabin and ultimatestrength, and expound the current situation of them.2The article compares results of different loading rates and models, to carry out studyon influence of loading rate to result of ultimate bending moment analysis.3Comparing “T” section bar and box girder and getting the advantages of box girderThen the article puts forward the design method of box girder cabin by equal sectional area,and think up box girder cabin by such method and normal cabin.4To take box girder cabin and ordinary cabin in good working condition and brokeninto comparison, the article makes numerical analysis on different cabin by element finiteanalysis software. The result shows the longitudinal ultimate strength of box girder cabin is6%higher than ordinary cabin in good working condition, and the longitudinal ultimatestrength of box girder cabin is18%higher than ordinary cabin in broken condition.5To study on design method of cabin ultimate strength test model. The article putsforward design method of cabin ultimate strength test model according to the stress gentledegrees along transition cabin in allusion to difficulties in design of cabin ultimate strength test model, and then getting the transition cabin of model by such method. According torequirement of cabin model integration and the box girder cabin been given, the article getsthe cabin ultimate strength test model finally. The result of actual test testified the model isgood in engineering application.
