In the ATS, the TUA is mainly responsible for the signal conditioning of theUUT and the resource allocation of the ATE. There are some testing steps that isextremely strict to the time slots in some UUT test flows, of which the existing ATEcannot meet the requirements. It is required to complete the testing steps directly inthe TUA without changing the ATE.As a result, a new kind of TUA is designed tomeet the demand. The test resource related to UUT is encapsulated inside theadapter so that the adapter can make function test to UUT under the control of testequipment and assist the ATE in completing the test task.In terms of hardware, the TMS320DM642and FPGA is used as the controllingand processing core of the testing computer, controlling all the hardware work. Tomeet the need of the test system’s communication requirements and the bomb’s testrequirement, the adapter integrate21553B communication channels,4RS422communication channels,4RS232communication channels(communicationchannels),16-way input DMM channels,16switch signal output channels and32pulse signal acquisition channels. In order to reduce the volume and increase thereliability, small form factor is adopted in the design of the chip. In the same time,1553B interface protocol, UART protocol and the other control logic are integratedin the FPGA.In terms of software, the main task of TMS320DM642is to receive, parse andexecute the test instruction and upload the test results. The uplink1553B is incharge of receiving instructions. DM642get information from uplink1553B andthen communicate with the test equipment to parse the received command. By theparsed command DM642can communicate with the UUT by the downlink1553B.Meantime, DM642transfers other instrument resource to finish the testing steps.After the test, DM642returns the test result to the test instrument through theuplink1553B.Finally, we make rigorous tests on every communication interface andmeasuring functional parts. And the TUA is repeated joint debugged with ATE andUUT. The test results show that the adapter is reasonable and stable. Each functionand performance index can meet the requirements.
