Facing resource scarcity, information loss, sustainability problems and productivitychallenges, the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Facility Management andDeconstruction Industry motivates communities to innovate a new technologicalrevolution, helping architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers and owners to managebuilding resources efficiently.An integrated overall process called Building Information Modeling becomes themost advanced technology. With BIM technology, accurate virtual geometric models ofexisting and new buildings are constructed digitally as well as physical properties andfunctions, through building-life-cycle offering information and knowledge tostakeholders.With the development of concrete masonry unit (CMU), AEC industries pay moreattention to the structure with less materials, energy, earth and water. As buildingindustrialization develops continuously, reinforced concrete block masonry structurewill absorb new designs and methodologies.However, the workflow of reinforced concrete block masonry structure has notbeen fixed to a stable pattern until now, while the requirements in information flowfrom stakeholders of buildings have not been decided stably either. Especially for thenew building structure system, the framework and component of reinforced concreteblock masonry structure has not been established. The further application and developedpromotion of reinforced concrete block masonry structure were restricted seriouslywithout enough practical projects. It is the key factor of reinforced concrete blockmasonry structure information construction how to make a suitable demand decision ofeach stage of building and build up a structure system properly. In addition, it is thesignificant procedure about development of reinforced concrete block masonry structurehow to control the engineering quality and efficiency by automatic methods based onBIM platform, how to create and evaluate an application of reinforced concrete blockmasonry structure.This paper mainly focuses on building information modeling applied to thereinforced concrete block masonry structure system. Research and analysis list onaspects as follows.Reinforced concrete block masonry structure model information systemThe analysis of information flow during building life-cycle and informationdemand from each stakeholder was carried out, through the experiences of reinforcedconcrete block masonry structure projects these years. The purpose of this paper istrying to present systems and types of model fit for reinforced concrete block masonry structure, construct the relationship between models and information, to form acomplete reinforced concrete block masonry system application framework in the end.Building Information Modeling based on BIM platformCompared different BIM software platforms, core model software was selectedwith analysis of reinforced concrete block masonry structure construct in depth. Fillingthe construct with new items, new reinforced concrete block masonry structure systemwas established.Redevelopment of Building Information ModelingCombined with the specific needs of civil engineering and computer sciencesolution, the core model Revit software was redeveloped for reinforced concrete blockmasonry structure, including the statistic of quantity take-off, assemble check ofstructural design and parameterized shop drawing. This paper is trying to complete theapplication of building information modeling on reinforced concrete block masonrystructure, elevating the application level and raising efficiency.The application of Building Information ModelingCombined with practical projects research and redevelopment about application ofbuilding information modeling on reinforced concrete block masonry structure wascarried out. After completing the digital project, the paper aim to evaluate the level andsystem of building information modeling application on CMU structure right now.
