Thus, the regulation can be more feasible through utilizing variability of the landscape elements.Traditional landscape facilities design focus on landscape visual effect but it lack of attention to the development of life and people’s demand, which make the field’s function and space lack adaptability to activities and life changes.With the development of production technology and building material, hard landscape facilities make the variability design come true. Through regulation of morphology, structure, quantity, location, colour and other characteristics, variable hard landscape facilities have an impact on floor space and landscape forms. Dynamic adaptability and flexible controllability of future living needs can satisfy people’s needs and aesthetic requirements. As a new concept of landscape design, it is a dynamic variability design which combining the use and aesthetic. At the same time, it is based on scientific rationality, emphasizing the landscape master, interaction between objects. As an inheritance and development of traditional landscape facilities design, which needs to update the concept and technically achieve innovation.In view of the deficiencies existing in the design of hard landscape facilities, the dissertation expounds the practical significance and the necessity of variability in the hard landscape facilities.Furthermore, the dissertation also defines the connotation and extension of the landscape facilities’variability.Build the hard landscape facilities is able to change the function, structure, space, and to realize people, landscape and environment interaction, at the same time with a high technical means to realize adaptability of landscape facilities, human and artistic aesthetic feeling of this kind of variability design concept. The characteristics and innovative design concept of variability are emphasized from concept and implementation approach, and it supported by relevant technical theory.
