Automobile brake system is an important guarantee for safe driving, especiallyfor the large passenger bus, braking efficiency of braking system is particularlyimportant. Brake is the main component of the braking system, its performancedirectly affects the overall braking bus performance. At present, there are drum brakeand disc brake which are widely used. The braking performance of the two are not thesame, so it is of great significance to study dynamic performance of them. This article firstly introduces the domestic and foreign research situation of busbraking, then the basic theory of bus brake system are described, including workingprocess, main components, the braking regulations and other relevant content. On thebasis of fully understanding of the above content, vehicle model which was built byADAMS simulation software was debugged, using the related data of SWB6115model. While the debugging was complete, the bus are respectively assembled with disc brake and drum brake for different simulation case. Afterwards, we got brakingperformance curve of the bus in direct movement and turning, including longitudinalacceleration, lateral acceleration, vehicle speed, braking torque time curve, comparison and analysis. Come out that disc brake is better than drum brake on stableperformance, the brake torque generated by disc brake is slowly than that generatedby drum brake, disc brake more sustainable and stable to reduce the speed, so that thewheel speed changes consistently. This article provides theoretical data support for the selection of two kinds of brake for large bus. On the other hand, the support of design and matching for later braking system is also provided. With the work of this paper, the research anddevelopment of bus brake system will be easily.
