In recent years, plastic analysis method has become a more important method of analysis of seismic design. Pushover analysis which its practicability and each other advantage received more and more attention. It avoids the tedious of nonlinear dynamic analysis, so that the analysis time is greatly reduced. Chinese seismic code provision, For the energy dissipation structure, when the main structure into elastic-plastic stage, the system should be based on characteristics of the main structure, the use of static nonlinear analysis and nonlinear time history analysis methods. For this kind of speed viscous damper, the direct application of pushover method does not take into account the effect of the damper in the structure. This paper identified the Pushover analysis method suitable for viscous dampers.Firstly, the paper discusses the development and research of nonlinear static analysis methods, while some of the issues discussed pushover analysis methods are facing. Secondly, it introduces several common analytical methods and different types of levels Pushover load distribution pattern.On the basis of the capacity spectrum method, using certain assumptions, proposed design flow structure suitable for viscous dampers. Meanwhile according to the restoring force characteristics of damping devices, a simplified equivalent damping ratio of damping structure calculation.A six-story frame structure with viscous damper will be pushover analysis in the examples. Using two different levels of load distribution patterns, namely the level of the inverted triangle uniform load distribution patterns and levels of load distribution patterns. While using finite element analysis software SAP2000program for the elastic-plastic time history analysis model, to ensure the feasibility of the method. The results show that static analysis methods mentioned in this article have some reliability, which results using the inverted triangle pattern closer to the level of load distribution schedule analysis. In the actual process encountered some problems, static elastic-plastic analysis using the original model, so the design of the original structure of the reinforcement structure, but in practice, the arrangement of viscous damper damping structure when time history analysis, and damper adjacent members should be strengthened reinforcement, and therefore do not xianeed to define the relevant components of plastic hinges. So the hinge sequence obtained using the two methods are different. But the combination of the above conclusions, pushover analysis method for damping frame structure with viscous dampers better feasibility, so pushover analysis method is suitable for viscous damper has obvious superiority.
