Viscous damper is a kind of passive control equipment in structural vibration control.It can provide additional damping ratio,reduce seismic response and displacement for structure.Installing viscous dampers in buildings and bridges is equivalent to installing "airbags" for structures.When external excitations such as earthquake and wind load come,the dampers absorb and consume the impact energy of external excitations into engineering structures to the maximum extent,and effectively alleviate the damage caused by external excitations to engineering structures.In this paper,two methods of laboratory test and numerical simulation are used to study the mechanism of viscous dampers,and based on the research results,the viscous dampers are applied in practical engineering.The main research contents of this paper include:(1)The background and significance of the research are described,and the various types of damping devices and the research status of viscous dampers at home and abroad are introduced.(2)The viscous damper is tested and compared with the numerical simulation results.(3)The elastic time history analysis of structures with or without viscous dampers is carried out by using ETABS finite element software.The additional damping ratio under frequent earthquakes and fortification earthquakes is checked and calculated.(4)Based on practical engineering,the installation of viscous dampers is designed by PERFORM-3D software,and the effect of the installation of viscous dampers is studied.The main contents include the checking of additional damping ratio,the seismic response of the structure,the development of plastic hinge of beam-column members,the checking calculation of beam-column substructures,the energy dissipation and the performance analysis of viscous dampers.(5)Summarize the research contents,and put forward the possibility of further optimization and development for the application of viscous damping technology in practical engineering.
