Black start is a main way to solve the large-scale blackouts, and the key is the start of black start power supply after blackouts. At present, hydropower is always selected as black start power supply. However, due to energy crisis and environmental issues, development and utilization of renewable and clean energy has become a research focus. Wind power used as black start power start may become one prospective research direction. This thesis analyzes the process of black start and the development status of wind power. Furthermore, a scheme for black start is proposed that the wind power and the hybrid energy storage system composed by ultracapacitor and battery can be integrated together as new black start power supply.Firstly, short-term wind power forecasting models which are used frequently have been introduced, the advantages and disadvantages of them are analyzed respectively. On this basis, comprehensive mathematical model of wind power density based on artificial neural network and physical models is established. Combined with the current methods of calculating wind power, evaluation method for wind power is given. The evaluation method can be used for calculation of wind power range which can meet the requirement of black start power supply. Wind farm reform scheme is put forward according to wind turbine principle and the requirement of black start power supply.Secondly, for the purpose of smooth black start, the systematic analysis of power grid stability after integration of wind power is made. Meanwhile, account for the intermittent and fluctuation of wind power, a scheme for black start is proposed that the wind power and the hybrid energy storage system composed by ultracapacitor and battery are integrated together as new black start power supply. By the means of energy storage system which can offer high power density during short period, the stable and sustainable operation and the rapid response capability of black start power supply constructed by wind power can be enhanced greatly.Finally, take one wind farm as an example, a simulation model based on double-feed wind turbine and hybrid energy storage system have been built. The simulation analysis for large-scale blackouts, integration of black start power supply, and rapid recovery of power gird are presented. The simulation results verify the feasibility of the black start scheme proposed in this thesis.
