As a kind of green, environmentally friendly and economical transportation, electric vehicles are rapidly developing. The electric vehicle charging facility is not only an important basis for the electric vehicle’s safty running, but also the construction and development focus of the smart grid. Currently, traditional non-interactive method can not meet the needs of future intelligent charging. To realize the intelligent charging management of electric vehicles, when the charging pile charge the electric vehicle, it is necessary to establish a high speed and reliable communication connection bettween them. Then it can reallize the purposes of the information interaction between the grid and electric vehicles.Currently, PLC for electric vehicles is still in the exploratory stage both in the vehicle control system and in the charging control system, and it is becoming a hot topic, especially in European countries. But in China, the research is rare in this area.This paper studys the electric vehicle charging system architecture; it analyzes the information flow direction and the communication needs; and it focused reaserch the communication needs between the electric vehicles and charging pile. In this paper, the business communication bandwidth and performance requirements are analyzed based on the communication protocols and it is believed that lOkbps bandwidth of the application layer can fully meet the needs of the current charging control communication between the electric vehicle and charging pile. This paper presents the PLC application scheme between the electric vehicle and charging pile; it evaluates the feasibility of narrowband and broadband PLC between the electric vehicle and charging pile combined with the laboratory testing; and then it get the conclusion of that the PLC technology can fully meet the communication needs bettween the electric car and charging pile. In addition, this paper analyze the background noise of the charge cable channel, and find that the CP-PE line has a better transmission effect as the carrier channel than the L-N line does on the narrowband PLC technology. Finally, the article describes the inadequacies of the content and the area for improvement, and prospects the application of PLC technology. The paper will play an active role of exploring the application of PLC technology, and it will provide some guidance for the technology upgrade and improvement of the PLC technology.
