Charging system is the infrastructure to achieve energy supply for electric vehicles, also an important prerequisite of industrialization and commercialization of EVs. The construction of the charging system has been initially carried out in China, but the research on the key technology and relevant standard of charging device is still shallow, and to a certain extent, it limits the promotion and popularization of EVs. The AC charging point is used to supply AC power for EVs with an on-board charger. It can be installed in the parking and residential area, and is the main equipment for EVs in conventional charging mode. The technology of AC charging control for EVs is studied in this paper. Based on the existing technologies at home and abroad, a new type of AC charging point is developed. Its main design technical indicators are proposed according to the functional requirements analysis, and the complete design is given out accordingly. The whole system is divided into different modules depending on their functions, the design and implementation of every specific subsystem is carried out with the application of embedded control, human-computer interaction, metering and charging, data communication and other technologies. After the completion of the engineering prototype, a type test is carried out to verify its operating. The AC charging point developed in this paper features perfect function, simple manipulation, stable operation and good scalability, and has been identified by the relevant testing organizations. It has broad application prospects in the construction of charging system, and is advantageous to the promotion and popularization of EVs.
