As the voice of the global response to climate change and rising energy shortages, energy supply security situation is worsening. The wind power as a renewable energy is lower cost, maturer technology, new energy and high reliability.The offshore wind power meets a development chance, during to rich offshore resources, closer to load center and suitable for large-scale development. Efficiency of offshore wind turbines can be improved by studying it, analyzing the component parts of it and optimizing the improvement measures, which also can improve the power generation of offshore wind turbines, and save energy, and improve the economic benefit. Meanwhile, it has obvious effects on economic benefits to improve the efficiency of the offshore wind turbine.First, this article analyzes characteristics of offshore wind turbines, and compares to various mainstream technology routes. It shows that the high-speed permanent magnet generator will become the optimal choice to the offshore wind because of high reliability and high power density. Secondly, this article analyzes the causes of the loss of wind turbines, and introduces the components of certain type of offshore wind turbines and the efficiency to traditional calculation method. It also puts forward the calculation method and process of efficiency, combined with variable speed power characteristic of wind turbines, which is suitable for wind turbines. It focuses on generators, inverters and the reasons of electricity wastage consumed by the wind turbine, and the calculation.method is given. And the result has been verified by the factory test and wind field test. The result shows that this method meets the engineering requirement. At last, this article analyzes the loss comprehensively, and finds the main factors, which influences the loss, such as electromagnetic load selection, ventilation, power unit selection, filtering unit selection, the cooling system configuration and control strategies. Finally, the wind turbine efficiency can be improved by optimizing the design and improvement of control strategies.Efficiency calculation method proposed in this paper can fast the wind turbine concept design stage and accurately calculate the power curve. So that it is easy to estimate the generating capacity for offshore wind turbine technology route choice decision-making basis.
