Faced with an increasingly serious water pollution problem, the contradictionbetween the limitations of conventional treatment processes and the requirements ofimproving drinking water quality is more prominent. Development of new technologyand improvement of traditional processes have become a focus in water treatmentindustry. In view of this, a new pretreatment device of ultraflitration calledradial-flow filter with fiber filtering media is designed, which based on summarizingthe advantages of existing fiber filter and combined with the characteristics of fiberfiltration and ultrafiltration pretreatment facilities. Through long-term experiment ofthe radial-flow filter with fiber filtering media, the performance advantage, theoperation optimization and the filtration mechanism were studied and analyzed. It wasdiscussed the feasibility and effectiveness of treating micro-polluted water using theradial-flow filter with fiber filtering media-UF group.The effect of different initial filtration velocities at1.5m/h,2,5m/h,3.5/h onsuch parameters as the effective filtration cycle, water quality, filtration velocitieswere analyzed. Then the calculation by using the filter performance evaluation indexBFI showed that the initial filtration velocity of optimal performance was2.5m/h.Based on the experimental date summarizing and comparative analysis, it’s believedthat the filtration mechanism are composed of basic mechanism(interception, inertialeffect, diffusion effect, gravity effect, adsorption effect) and microbial decomposition.Polymerization aluminum chloride was used as a coagulant in the coagulation beakerexperiment with water from Jixian Hotel North Mountain Pool, the results indicatedthe optimum dosage was5mg/l. The purification effect of direct radial-flow filtrationand micro-flocculation radial-flow filtration were compared on three types of waterperiod respectively, which including the period of normal temperature and normalturbidity, low temperature and normal turbidity, normal temperature and high turbidity.The results showed that the micro-flocculation radial-flow filtration was moreadvantage to the pollutants removal. Meanwhile it also showed that increasing thetemperature and turbidity could enhance the effect of water purification. Finally, thecombined process of radial-flow filter with fiber filtering media and ultrafiltrationwas operated to treat the micro-polluted source water from Jixian Hotel NorthMountain Pool. The results showed that turbidity, CODMn, ammonia nitrogen and UV254removal were desirable and effluent water quality was stable. At the same time,the radial-flow filter with fiber filtering media effectively reduced the burden ofsubsequent ultrafiltration processing units, which indicated the radial-flow filter withfiber filtering media as the pretreatment of ultrafiltration had certain feasibility,validity, applicability.
