Construction cost control is an effective way to use the construction fundsreasonably and improve the investment benefits. In the process of construction project,however, there are always full of internal and external environment uncertainties, i.e.,construction project risk, which will have an influence on the construction project andresult in a certain cost fluctuation. Therefore, construction project cost can be dividedinto deterministic cost and risk cost, according to Vaughan. Risk cost, the importantcontent of construction cost control research, happens with risk. As the existing studyof risk factors in cost control theory is not enough, the thesis makes an attempt tosolve the problems of runaway construction cost in China by focusing on studying thecost risk factors on the life cycle of the construction project.The thesis starts from introducing the relevant concepts of cost management andrisk prevention in construction project, with the result of giving a definition of costrisk as well as the work content of risk management. Then it presents the methods ofidentifying, analyzing and evaluating risk factors, and makes an original list of costrisk factors. Besides, the thesis provides sufficient theory basis on risk factors’analysis and evaluation through illustrating the operation method of Analytic NetworkProcess. The purpose of the thesis is to build a model of risk prevention and control,analyzing possible risks in each stage of the construction life cycle, evaluating theimportance of those risks and offering risk prevention and control measures at last.The thesis elaborates this view in there parts. The first part of the contentparticularly summarizes the risk factors that affect construction project cost in eachstage of the construction life cycle, and makes an original list of construction cost riskfactors. The second part generates quantitative evaluations and measurements of thecost risk factors of a swimming pool, which concludes an important order of all riskfactors and supplies measures to prevent and control risk factors on the basis of stagedivision. The third part introduces value engineering and matrix fuzzy comprehensivejudgment to determine expert weight into designing stage, and finds out a new methodof taking advantage of scientific decisions to reduce cost risks to make programdecisions in this stage, which proves feasible by the water purifying plant in theswimming pool.One purpose of the thesis is to find out efficient measures of risk prevention andcontrol on the basis of analyzing the cost risk factors in construction projects. Moreover, it gives a new method used in designing stage to make decisionsbecause of the importance of this stage. The other purpose is to provide a referencefor further study in risk factors prevention and control of construction projects.
