As people’s living standards improve and the improvement of housing conditions, both urban and rural residents in quantity and quality of household appliances hava increased year by year, residents put forward higher requirements for controlling appliances, It needs support of communication networks for interacting between people and electrical devices. However, the research for electric power communication networks mainly focused on the intelligent substation communications, scheduling communications and other transmission and distribution sectors, it is still not perfect on DSM.It is hard to form a communication network of good compatibility with unified protocol standards. How to build a bottom-up electrical equipment communication networks, and how to develop applications based on the communication networks, and how to assess the reliability of the networks has become an important subject of the electrical equipment manufacturers and research institutions.This paper proposed a three-tier architecture of intelligent communications network design. The work, both theoretically and practically, involved is multifold.First, Design air conditioning controllers, lighting controllers, security alarm, doors and windows controllers, multi-phase meters and other independent device control unit. Design central control units to manage various device control units. Build device layer network to provide the channel of the information collection and control instructions using Zigbee protocol.Second, A software package is developed to give the end user a simple, friendly and easy-to-use interface to work with. Such a work is build upon a sound overall system design and a good understanding of functions required.Third, Design Remote master station which can transplante in each terminal. Using data mining and other Algorithms,the stationg can provide services such as energy efficiency assessment, energy_saving services, energy efficiency monitoring, device management etc.Last, Establish demand-side communication network model, acquisition parameters for each network device and establish the reliability evaluation indicator system, and asses the reliability of the network structure of this project using the improving fault tree analysis method. The communication network design and the reliability assessment method this paper proposed for intelligent building has important theoretical and practical value.
