The demonstration project of Yangtze River digital channel and intelligent shipping construction puts forward the digitization and intellectualized concept firstly in the field of inland navigation construction field in our country. The project includes 5 subsystems, 7 local area networks and 3 channel survey vessels, 14 beacon vessels, 4 base stations of AIS,beacons,gauging stations,navigable ships etc. Because of the huge scale and the broad coverage range, construct the communication network for the intelligent shipping system and put forward a perfect pan of communication transmission according actual service need is very important. So the purpose of this paper is to solve these practical problems in the project.Based on the analysis of network circumstance, construction condition, project need, data and operation flow of Yangtse River intelligent shipping system, this paper complete the design of network architecture, including the logic plan of network, the plan of technologies, administration of networks, network security etc,which take the project actualization and prospect of technology into account.Some technologies of the design of communication protocols is researched in this paper, Vessel-bank Wireless Communications Peer to Peer Protocal and the communication protocol of Navigation Aids Telemetering and Telecontrol System are designed according operational aspects of the system, referenced the international standards in the fields of telecom and industrial contral.According VBPP, vessel-bank wireless communication software is developed with VC++ and network programming technology. GPS data collecting and analysis, establishment and operation of the database are also researched in this paper.GPRS VPN network is constructed, the basic functions of the protocol are verified by the emulaton of vessel-bank communication system.The testing results indicate that the transmission data are credible and effective .
