With the development of communication technology, photoelectric technology, information technology, network technology and computer technology, the smart substation emerged. Compare to the traditional integrated automation substation, the smart substation, which is based on IEC61850standard, greatly enhances the interoperability between devices. In addition, the use of smart circuit breaker and untraditional mutual inductor greatly improve the intelligent level and digital level in substations. Along with big construction and rapid development of smart grid in our country, some of the existing integrated automation substation also need to be intelligent while building intelligent substation, to adapt to the demand of the construction of smart grid.Firstly, this paper analyzes shortcomings and insufficiencies of the traditional integrated automation substation on architecture and technology, and studies technology features, architecture features and key technical support of smart substation, so as to highlight the relative advantage of it.Secondly, this paper makes a demand analysis on intelligent transformation, and for different device layer, different functions and different network in the substation, respectively studies demands and schemes on intelligent transformation, which is the base of specific transformation scheme of substation of110kV YuLin WanJiaDun.Finally, combining with the current situation of substation of110kV YuLin WanJiaDun, this paper analyzes and studies its secondary system, that content includes intelligent transformation of relay protection system and safety automatic device, remote communication system and the clock synchronization system, electric energy metering system,’Five Prevention1system and DC system. Based on the analysis and studies, this paper determines the final scheme for intelligent transformation of secondary system.The transformation scheme can not only achieve the goal of intelligent transformation. Moreover, the scheme meets the demands for smart substation including safety, reliability, economy and so on, and reflects the advancement of technology, the rationality of the architecture, innovativeness of scheme.
