Boiler feed pump is one of the most important auxiliary equipments in thermal power plant, the two main driving modes of feed pumps are motor-driven mode and steam-driven mode in China power stations, the comparison of which has always been disputed. The main thermal economic indicator is compared and analyzed between two driving modes of feed water pumps for the33OMW unit, viz. the electric pump driving and steam turbine driving, which proves that it is possible that the transformation from electric driving mode to the steam turbine driving mode. The thermal economic efficiency test is carried out for the330MW unit in the Hai Bowan Power Plant. The results indicate that the thermal efficiency is equivalence for the two driving modes of feed water pumps, but the capacity is increased after the transformation. It is of great value from the electric pump driving to the steam turbine driving. By taking the330MW unit in the Hai Bowan Power Plant as comparison examples with proceeding themethod of technical and economical analysis, we got the conclusion that steam-driven mode has a higher thermal economic than motor-driven mode, but we should consider each individual condition when decision is to be made.
