Transformer losses are often ignored in the economic operation of the distribution network with distributed generation, however, it accounts for a large proportion in the network losses. The purpose of this paper is to develop a model which could calculate the network losses on the base of economic operation of transformers. The model’s objective function is minimization of total losses, and it can solve optimization problems in distributed network combining transformer economic operation with distributed generation.Through power flow calculation of distributed network with distributed generation, the factors affecting economic of operation are researched and analyzed. An Optimization model based on minimizing total losses and combining distributed generation and transformer optimization is proposed. The step of this optimization method is as follows:Firstly, determine the operation modes of the transformer; Secondly, determine the location and capacity of distributed generation with the method of "Equal Slightly increased rate of losses"; Finally, determine the transformer operation mode making the network losses are minimized in the case of the distributed generation with optimal capacity are connected to the best site. On the basis of the optimization model, the paper also proposes the concept and calculation "methods of "optimization efficiency of distributed generation to distribution network".Examples proved that the model in this paper is scientific and reasonable, and the calculation method is simple but effective.
