This thesis bases on semi-rigid base’s problems of bad shrinkage resistance,presents a measure by improving the properties of base materials and under thepremise of guaranteed in intensity, in order to improve pavement performance ofsemi-rigid base, which is which is mixing basalt fiber into cement stabilized macadam.Through a great deal of experiments, the basic mechanical properties, shrinkageperformance and antifreeze performance of basalt fiber cement stabilized macadamwere investigated systemically. The main content includes:(1) The uniform test is applied to mix proportion design of cement stabilizedmacadam reinforced with basalt fiber. Firstly, according to three affecting factors(cement dosage, fiber length, fiber dosage), five kinds of mix proportion areformulated. Then the tests are evaluated by7-day unconfined compressive strength,7-day splitting tensile strength and7-day dry shrinkage. The tests include five groupsof compaction test (to determine the optimum moisture content and maximum drydensity) based on five mix proportion, specimen making and the three evaluationindex series experiment. Finally by the linear analysis, regression models of threeevaluation indexes are received. Combined with related specifications andengineering practice, the best scheme is put forward―called the optimal mixproportion of basalt fiber cement stabilized macadam.(2) In view of the optimal mix ration of the basalt fiber cement stabilizedmacadam and the mix ration of ordinary cement stabilized macadam with no fiber,basic mechanics performance tests are carried out, including compressive strength testand splitting tensile strength test. Change rule of compressive strength and splittingtensile strength under two groups of mix ratio with different curing period are got then.At the same time, the influence of basalt fiber on cement stabilized macadam is got bycontrast analysis. The results show that addition of basalt fiber the two kinds ofstrength of the cement stabilized macadam mixture.(3) Respectively with the method of drying shrinkage test and temperatureshrinkage test, research on shrinkage resistance of the performance of the basalt fibercement stabilized macadam with the optimal mix ration and ordinary cement stabilized macadam with no fiber. Series of experiments are carried out with differentcuring periods. The results show that addition of basalt fiber reduce the dryingshrinkage coefficient and temperature shrinkage coefficient of cement stabilizedmacadam, and improve the shrinkage resistance of cement stabilized macadam.(4) Through test method with28-day curing period and5times freeze-thawcycle, antifreeze performances of the basalt fiber cement stabilized macadam with theoptimal mix ration and ordinary cement stabilized macadam with no fiber, are studied.The results show that addition of basalt fiber significantly increases the frostresistance of cement stabilized macadam. Thus, cement stabilized macadam can bebetter applied in cold region of north China.Above experimental researches of basalt fiber cement stabilized macadam showthat basalt fiber can not only ensure the strength of the cement stabilized macadam,but also can improve the shrinkage resistance and freeze resistance. Thus, it makespavement performance of cement stabilized macadam of semi-rigid base better.Basalt fiber has low cost and environmental protection, thus it can be widely appliedto highway construction.
