The Research On Form Chaarcetirstics Of The Tradiitonal Residences Of Huaian

Huaian is one of the second batch of historic and cultural cities announced by the StateCouncil with a history of nearly2200years. There is a large amount of historicalarchitectures such as residence, temple, Taoist abbey, government office and guild hall.Among them, residence is the type with the largest amount and highly characteristic whichhas significant value. But because of various reasons, the existing situation of the traditionalresidences of Huaian is not optimistic and lake of comprehensive and systemic research onthat, research and protection work need to be running urgently.The dissertation takes the traditional residences in Huaian ancient city and Hexia town,with or without garden, as the major research object, and conclude the characteristics of thespatial form characteristics and physical form characteristics of traditional residences ofHuaian. Through the analysis of unit plane type, courtyard combination mode and layout ofstreets, this thesis generalize four different types of unit plane, three different types ofcourtyard combination mode, and find that the layout of these residences is correspond withthe trend of streets as the spatial form characteristic. The physical form characteristics mainlystudy on the characteristic of elevation, ornament, brick carving and building techniques oftraditional residences. According to these aspects, this thesis summarizes the formcharacteristics of traditional residences such as simple overall style, fine-grained details andneat building techniques. Meanwhile, based on literature research method, this thesis sum upthe three type of Huaian traditional residential houses: merchant house, official house andliterator house, and sort out its causes and characteristics. Finally, analyze the reason of thechange of the type of traditional residential houses from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. Andby comparison with traditional residence of Huizhou and Yanzghou, summarizes the styleorigins from the aspects of population composition, politics and the influence of merchantsfrom Anhui.
