This paper makes an assumed vertical irregular frame structure which has a cantilevered top floor as research prototype and explores the structure’s dynamic response under earthquake. the current study and experiment related to vertical eccentric irregular structure is relatively few. Thus This paper’s research has a certain engineering practical significance.This paper uses the advanced nonlinear finite element software-MSC.Marc to build structure model and make structural static and seismic history analysis, analyses the frame structure’s response under the earthquake effect and obtains static and seismic response(acceleration, displacement, strain, etc.) results of model structure. And makes the appropriate structural model by bamboo strips, taking advantage of shaking table simulates seismic test on the model, and inputs Elcenro and Wenchuan seismic waves to the shaking table. Table maximum accelerations are taken0.1g,0.2g and0.4g. Then we test each floor’s acceleration response, displacement response and each control member’s dynamic strain response of vertical eccentric irregular and regular frameworks.Through comparative analysis of the results of shaking table test and theoretical analysis, we can see the both model structure’s seismic response is basically same. For vertical eccentric irregular structure, the structure’s bottom story seismic response obtained by the test results is greater than the result calculated by standard method, and the seismic influence coefficient derived from test and Marc software are greater than the seismic influence coefficient calculated in accordance with standard.This paper’s research work provides vertical eccentric irregular multi-frame structure’s theory design and engineering construction as a reference, also found that there is a certain deviation between the seismic responses of such structures calculated by the current design standard and the actual results.
