The memristor is a nonlinear two-terminal passive electronic element with memory function that was predicted by Professor CHUA L O. in1971, and it relates the fluxΦp and the charge q, so as to make up for the lack of relationships between this two circuit basic variables. HP LABS researchers announced that they had implemented a nano-sized solid memristors in2008, and proved that the memristors does exist.Firstly, this article analyzes the physical model and working principle of HP laboratory memristor. The nonlinear drift model of memristor is simulated, and obtained the characteristics of a single memristor. The characteristics of combinational circuit of memristor with capacitor, inductor and resistor is studied, and verified its differences with traditional R, L, C circuit. An analog circuit based memristor model is developed using conventional circuit elements and is applied to a MC low-pass filter. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed model has a hysteretic volt-ampere characteristic and the corresponding low-pass filter exhibits time-varying characteristics. Finally, a new van der pol oscillator circuit based on memristor was proposed. The dynamic characteristics of the circuit state equation are analyed, and the numerical and circuit simulation are implemented, the simulation results show that when the parameters value are appropriate the system will appears chaotic phenomenon. Theoretical analysis and simulation results illustrate the paper successfully applies memristor to van der pol oscillation circuit, and obtained good results.
