By analyzing and researching on the component structure of earth-rock fill dam, this paper built models of the earth-rock fill dam using CATIAskeleton design method. Using C#as the development language and3D model web browser plugins, this paper implemented a3D model interactive environment, as well as a presentation and virtual teaching environment, which composed of the earth-rock fill dam teaching and presentation system. The mail contents of this paper are:(1) Research on the parameterization of earth-rock fill dam prototype.By dividing the earth-rock fill dam into primitive components, based on the parameterization theories, and referring to the regulations of parameterization design, this paper extracted various parameters of earth-rock fill dam components, including geometry parameters, assembly parameters, mechanic parameters and material parameters, implemented the parameterization of all the components of earth-rock fill dam prototype, including dam crest, dam body, dam slop, dam impervious and drainage facilities. That provided the parameterization support of the creation of3D parameterization model of earth-rock fill dam.(2) Research on the3D modelling method and model interactionBy analyzing and researching on the component structure of earth-rock fill dam, this paper built the skeleton models of dam components and the whole earth-rock fill dam using CATIA skeleton design method. We built the template library of earth-rock fill dam components using CATIA, assembled the components by the skeleton models into a section of the dam model and assembled the sections of the dam into the whole earth-rock fill dam model.We implemented the presentation and interaction of the model by development of3DXML Player.(3) Research on the key technologies of teaching of3D earth-rock fill damResearch and analyzing to the key technologies of database,3DXML, DsoFramer and DwgViewer provided the research basis to the system implementation.(4) Design and development of teaching and presentation system of earth-rock fill damAccording to the design regulation of earth-rock fill dam and the requirements of teaching curriculum design, using C#development technology, based on the3D parameterization prototype of earth-rock fill dam,2D CAD drawing and curriculum Powerpoint slides, as well as multiple third party plugins, this paper developed and designed the earth-rock fill dam virtual teaching and presentation system, implemented the virtual teaching of earth-rock fill dam, curriculum assistive design and the engineering scene presentation of3D earth-rock fill dam.Finally, we summarized the research contents and given the prospects of development of earth-rock fill dam teaching and presentation system.
