All the facts, including the huge range of load changing, low power factor, andserious harmonic wave, which create a complex and severe quarry power environment,have affection on the safe operation of the high power electric equipment. Therefore,in order to purify the quarry power environment and increase the safety of quarryoperation, it is required to apply for reactive power compensation and harmonicsuppression. This paper focuses on designing a device which has the function ofreactive power compensation and harmonic suppression, with the characteristic of thepower system and the load mine.First, this paper introduces a type of zero-crossing trigger circuit. By observingthe scilloscope, experiments have proved that the zero-crossing trigger module hasobvious results. This module can switch the filtering compensation device without theimpulse current, prolong the service life of quarry-mine devices. Second, simulate thethyristors voltage and capacitor residual voltage in three different modes byMATLAB. This simulation provides basis for the selection of filtering compensationdevice. Then designs the hardware of automatic switching controller, proposing acontrolling strategy and algorithm geared to the power system and load quarry mine.Enforce the function of automatic switching the filtering compensation device basedon power system changes.In the end, the paper analyzes the load of a movable typetransformer on a quarry. It designs the main circuit and control circuit of the filteringcompensation device, with the parameters, and then simulates by PSCAD.Thesimulation results illustrate that the filtering compensation device can not onlyimprove power factor, reduce reactive current, raise the load voltage, but alsoeliminate lots of harmonic current, limit harmonic voltage to the national standard.The filtering compensation device has obvious results, which makes the electricequipment on quarry operate normally, while saving a large number of electric energy.
