As the trend of the overall economic and social development, energy saving and low carbon economy development are paid more and more attention by people. Meanwhile, it is also an effective way to realize sustainable development strategy of our country and an important principle of effective utilization of energy needed for the development of economic construction to follow. In our country, water conservancy development has contributed to the national economy. Water industry, as an great energy consumer, its emphasis on energy saving is also increasing, and a series of concept, just as "green water conservancy" and "health project", has been proposed by water conservancy workers as well.Due to the uneven distribution of water resources, demand for water in some areas can not be meet, more and more large-scale water supply projects in all regions has been building, some are relatively well-known--South-to-North Water Transfer Project, East-to-West Water Transfer Project, Dong-shen water supply project. Xiaolangdi Yellow River diversion project,YRDP and so on.As system engineering for adjusting the space-time distribution of water resources, Large-scale water supply projects provide water support to industry and agriculture as well as residents’ living. Meanwhile, the pumping stations play an important role in flood control, drainage, drought resistance and disaster mitigation, etc. In the design and operation of large-scale water supply systems, reasonable circumvention of energy waste and improvment of energy efficiency of system not only make the water supply project energy saving,but have immeasurable effects on he country’s energy-saving and emission reduction work.This study taking a large water supply project as the research object, studied and analyzed the main design factors which affected the energy consumption of water supply project. Comprehensive considered the association such as the pipeline, running regulation mode and so on, which was based on the reasonable selection of centrifugal pumps. Taking the height efficiency and the minimum annual operating of the system as the objective function. Discussed and proposed energy-saving means of optimization of water supply project, ensured the economic operation of project. The specific contents are as follows:(1)In view of the existing problems of large water supply energy-saving work, this paper studied from several key points which influenced project economic and energy saving, and studied from the reasonable pipeline, pump type selection, optimal operation and regulation. Discussed the influence of each factor effect the energy-saving of the whole project. (2)0n the basis of reasonable determination of water supply project working point, with high efficiency, minimum annual operation cost of the whole system as the objective function, Establishment of optimization mathematical model of pipeline operation design, pump selection, optimization operation regulation, the results could focus on the whole system multi-scheme were analyzed, to get the optimal design elements of each match results, namely the engineering optimization design.(3)Using the powerful processing capabilities of SQL Server2000database to data, the various parameters of pump unit which commonly used in the engineering were entered, and combining Visual Basic6.0language, the subfunction software unit such as water pump selection pipeline optimization design、system optimal operation and regulation are combined, to edit the energy-saving optimization calculation software of large-scale water supply system to achieve rapid calculation between different combinations of design parameters, for providing favourable auxiliary calculations support on energy-saving optimization design of water supply project.(4)To water-lifting engineering in dongcheng of JiXian as the numerical example, using the energy-saving optimization calculation software of large-scale water supply system to conduct energy-saving optimization design of the project, and conducting combinatorial computing on various working condition to study out the most economical energy saving scheme through analyzing, and to provide the optimal regulation method for energy saving operation of the project, to ensure the processing capacity of the project respond to changes.This study focuses on the study of centrifugal pump unit commonly used in large-scale water supply project, and the study on optimization and energy saving for axial flow pump unit and mixed flow pump unit should be further explored, this study also proposed in the comprehensive application of the new energy and new technology such as solar energy、water hammer pump in the optimization of energy saving on the basis of traditional research, but the widely used in water supply project in the future was required to be constantly studied and discussed by scholars.
