At present, China has entered a decisive stage of building amoderately prosperous society, as well as a critical period of depth urbanization.Small cities and small towns will be the focus areas of future construction. DeputyMinister Qiu mentioned in his speech that50percent of new migrant city populationnow will rely on small towns to absorb. In the end of urbanization,25%to30%of theagricultural population need transfer to small towns, which continue to service themodern agriculture and sustainable agriculture. At the same time, small towns’infrastructure should be strengthed and their environment should be protected. In thefield of landscape architecture, it is important to explore the planning and design ideasto adapt the social form of small towns.Disabled is the main disvantaged groups in society and caring for them is animportant foundation for harmonious development of society, also reflect the fair society. The healing and care for disabled in towns will become an important socialproblem, and the construction of urban rehabilitation and convalescent center wouldbe a way to solve this problem. The healing garden of the Rehabilitation andconvalescent centers has an important role to upgrade and improve the efficacy ofhealing. With small and medium cities and small towns development, suitablesettings of the disabled recuperation and rehabilitation base gradually become a socialneed.Currently, cities in economically developed eastern areas and provincial capitalshave more adequate financial budgets for urban rehabilitation centers, butconstruction costs of rehabilitation centers in other cities under the jurisdiction offinancial funds are relatively limited. Moreover, the limited funds were often prioritypaid for buildings, staffing, infrastructure, etc.. Garden envirioments constructioninvestments, which are slowly effective, lower economic benefits and higherpost-maintenance, has often been reduced or delayed. Therefore, The low-cost healing garden which the construction is characterizedby "low waste, low intervention, low construction and low maintenance" become theinevitable choice of the garden of rehabilitation centers in small and medium citiesand small towns. This paper through healing garden and low-cost landscape casestudies, analyazd and summarized design ideas of low-cost healing garden, as well asmade design attempt used these theories in one realistic project.
