Rudder drive mechanism is a significant component of a missile, whose performancehas a direct impact on the reliability and control accuracy of the missile in flight.Therefore, it is necessary to make a rigorous performance test in the development andmaintenance of the drive mechanism. Aiming at the test of the rudder drive mechanism’sperformance, a data acquisition system was designed based on virtual instrumenttechnology. The performance of the rudder drive mechanism was comprehensively testedon the basis of this data acquisition system.Starting with the use of the mechanism, this paper analyzes the overall structure ofthe system and makes a unit classification for it according to different functions. Theselection of each functional hardware component and the design of electric circuit wasaccomplished, with the construction of a data acquisition system as the key process andmeeting the demand of technical agreement. The software of the system was designed onthe basis of the hardware platform. According to the characteristics of the virtualinstrument software development, LabVIEW was selected as the software developmentplatform, and then, the LabVIEW design patterns and programming idea was introduced.The main framework of the software design is analyzed according to the equipment’swork flow, and on the basis of the main framework, functional modules are allocated. Therelevant function modules of the system software are designed in accordance with theprocess of data acquisition. On this basis, the software design of rudder drive mechanismrun-in experiment module and performance testing module are accomplished. Finally byuse of the characteristics of the transmission of tested data and task scheduling, theinformation level and automation degree of the mechanism were improved by designingMES communication module with database technology.The practical application indicates that the system can achieve the design goals andcomplete data acquisition and other relevant tasks with simple operation, which presentsthe practicability of the system.
