The Timing Of Preventive Maintenance Of Highway Asphalt Pavements

With the traffic load and natural factors, the performance of highway asphalt pavementwill decline year by year. So it is necessary to make timely and effective preventivemaintenance for the pavement, so that it can keep the performance and service levels in agood state. Nowadays, along with the rapid development of China’s highway, themaintenance management of highway has to face the new challenges. In the future, there are agrowing number of highway will come into the periodic of maintenance. The HighwayMaintenance Management department has to face the pressure of road maintenance in thesame time. So, it is significant to study when and how to make preventive maintenance so thatpeople can improve the quality of maintenance and ease the pressure of financial.Firstly, based on reference a great number of literatures, this paper analyzes the indexesof asphalt pavement in China. In this case, this paper make the structural strength index as acontrol index of preventive maintenance and put the rut depth index into the evaluation ofsingle index individual, thus establish an evaluation index system which is suitable for thehighway asphalt pavement performance. At the same time, summarizes the characteristics ofthe domestic and foreign commonly used pavement performance prediction model. And then,combining with the status quo of pavement performance prediction in China, this paperestablish Grey Markov Model to predict the highway asphalt pavement performance.Secondly, this paper analyses the characteristics of preventive maintenance measures andlists the applicable conditions of them. After that, this paper discusses the relationship ofpreventive maintenance and pavement diseases. In compliance with the principle ofpreventive maintenance timing, this paper confirmed the timing by the economic analysesdecision method which is based on the benefit cost analysis. This method can choose the bestprogram by calculate the result of decision indexes.Finally, based on the data of highway asphalt pavement maintenance project, this paperpredicts and analysis the indexes of pavement, then confirmed the best timing of preventivemaintenance. At last, verify the applicability of the evaluation index system, the predictionmodel and the preventive maintenance timing determination method.
