A higher flexible passenger guidance system is required, as a result of the increasing passenger flow in the urban rail mass transit network which is more complex than before. Facing diverse operation scenarios, it is paramountly important to provide guidance service for passengers timely and assign passenger flow efficiently. At the same time, the development of3rd Generation Partnership Project can increase the possibility of utilizing the more advanced mobile communication technology to broadcast guidance information to the passengers in urban rail mass transit network. In this paper, considering the characters of urban rail mass transit network, studying the relative traffic guidance theories and new mobile communication technique, a new passenger guidance system based on urban rail mass transit network was designed. The contents of this paper can be summarized as follows:1. The definition of passenger guidance in the urban rail mass transit was put forward with the guidance object and information classified in this paper. The system function structure and core business process was designed based on the3layers system architecture of the Passenger Guidance System (PGS) proposed the author in the paper.2. The network was constructed according to the topological properties of urban rail mass transit network and combined with train schedules. The generalized cost function was designed considered with the travel time and travel cost. In order to acquire the valid and saturation degree constraint route set, the Dijkstra route searching algorithm was improved via new route searching model based on the train loaded saturation. The effectiveness and accuracy of algorithm had been verified in the case study.3. Studying on and combining with the ProSe service technical principle and information release module of the passenger guidance system, the author constructed a new information release mode1’PORTS’ and analyzed its characteristic. Finally, in order to verify the feasibility, adaptability and flexibility of’PORTS’as the information release model, the guidance information release process was designed and analyzed in3different scenarios. 4. The passenger guidance system of Beijing Subway based on GIS was realized by the author using J2EE as framework combined with the Flex front-end technology and ArcGIS spatial information technology.
