With the gradual exhaustion of conventional fossil energy worldwide and theincreasing severity of environmental problems, renewable energy has receivedextensive attention. Wind energy has been developing rapidly recent years. It has apromising future. However, wind power is a random and intermittent energy resource. With the rapid growth of installed wind capacity and the constant enlargement ofwind farm scale, the influence of large-scale grid-connected wind farm on peak loadregulation of power system has become more and more pronounced. This paper focuses on peak load regulating adequacy evaluation with integrationof wind farms. Firstly, recent development of wind energy around the world isintroduced, pointing out the importance of research on power system peak loadregulation issues associated with wind farm integration. Then, the characteristics andgrid-connecting mode of wind energy is introduced. The influence of wind powerintegration on power system peak load regulation is analyzed. The basic principle andtheoretical basis of Monte-Carlo method is also introduced. Finally, based on theanalysis of the variation of power system peak load regulation demand after windfarm grid-connected, power system peak load regulation adequacy evaluation methodappropriate for large scale wind farm grid-connected is raised. It is based onsequential Monte-Carlo method. The stochastic fluctuations of wind energy and theforced outage of conventional unit is taken into consideration. A case study is carriedout on IEEE RTS-79system to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.
