Sructure will get into inelastic state when suffered from major earthquakes, moreover, the story shear distribution under inelastic state is needed for the performance-basedseismic design method. However, the story shear distribution of the present seismic code isderiveed from elastic analysis and it cannot reflect the inelastic behavior of structures. The story shear distribution of six VEBF example structures are studied usingnonlinear time-history analyses when suffered from far-fault and near-fault majorearthquakes.Influence factors which include the characteristics of ground motion(amplitude、frequency spectrum)and structural characteristics(damping ratio、link beamlength、story number、story height、span、bay number) that affect the story sheardistribution are also investigated. A new story shear distribution pattern based on studyresult is proposed, which can provide basis for the performance-based seismic design. |
