Structures under severe earthquakes will enter the elasto-plastic state. Elastic analysis from theequivalent lateral force distribution model does not consider the structure of elasto-plastic properties, itcan not effectively consider the impact of higher modes, does not reflect the elasto-plastic response ofthe structure, based on the behavior of structural design needs based on the story shear between the realdistribution patterns. In this paper, in order to study the story shear distribution under elasto-plastic state in SteelMoment Resisting Frames, designed a series of steel frame structure has the ideal yield model. Usingthe finite element analysis software SAP2000, the average story shear distribution in Steel MomentResisting Frames are investigated under far-fault and near-fault earthquakes ground motions throughinelastic dynamic time-history analysis. Explore the ground motion characteristics (amplitude, frequency spectrum) and structural own characteristics (number of layers, height, span, number ofacross, site classification, fortification levels, damping ratio) on the structural story shear distributionpatterns.A new story shear distribution pattern inelastic state based on the result was proposed.
