In this paper, the simulation of external flow field of automobile and optimization of thedesign are studied. During the writing of the paper, three most basic processes of thenumerical simulation technology: pre-process, calculation, post-process, always run throughthe whole processes in the paper. These three processes are also the heart of the computationalfluid dynamics (CFD) simulation technology.Three common conditions: following condition, crosswind condition and overtakingcondition are simulated and analyzed in the paper. According to the result of simulation andanalysis, the article puts forward many suggestions for safe driving. By the end of the paper,the automobile has been optimized. In addition, some suggestions about automobile refittingwere proposed.Firstly, in the first chapter of the article, it introduces the purpose, significance, researchstatus both at home and abroad as well as research methods of the automotive aerodynamicssimulation. And this chapter simply introduces all kinds of work that the next want toundertake in this paper.Secondly, fluid mechanics, CFD and the theory of knowledge of aerodynamic force andmoment are introduced detailedly in the second chapter of the paper.Next, it puts the simulation of the standard reference automobile model as the main line,and it obtaines the various parameters of the need to use for the simulation at the back of thepaper. All these work set a benchmark for the research and contrast in later chapters of thepaper.Then, chapter four, chapter five and chapter six these three chapters of the paper, whichin turn study three complex conditions: following condition, crosswind condition andovertaking condition. In the process of research, these three chapters use all kinds ofsimulation processes which have been verified repeatedly in the third chapter. And thesimulation results are analyzed in detail, then it is concluded the conclusion that automobiletraveling under these three conditions will be got many adverse effects.Finally, it mainly introduces the function, method of the optimization of design ofautomobile. At the same time, this chapter also introduces five measures for optimization ofdesign for the automobile, and these five measures have been carried on the simulation. Thenon the basis of the simulation results of the analysis of contrast, this chapter concludes that theautomobile owners should be installed the auxiliary device that designed based onaerodynamic according to the actual situation for their cars.In conclusion, aerodynamic simulation of external flow field of automobile in this paper,its working conditions are numerous, processes in detail and the results of high credibility. The work of this paper for the automotive aerodynamics simulation has certain referencefunction, significance and value.
