With the rapid development of the railway, the train drivers’ driving skills had higherrequirements. Faced with a long period to bring real car training, expensive, poor security, theinitial approach to training was gradually replaced by driving simulation device. Drivingsimulation device had now become a science, advanced, efficient and safe teaching skillstraining equipment, widely used in the fields of railway, aerospace, aviation, marine, andhighway, which used virtual reality technology to create a virtual driving environment.Through the real operating environment interact with the virtual environment for trainingdrivers were driving training. Railcar driving simulation system is designed for rail car drivertraining and assessment of the design and manufacturing, mainly for railway units and railwayinstitutions.The thesis describes the design of railcar driving simulation system firstly, and thenintroduces the core of railcar driving simulation system, which is the mathematical model fordriving simulation system. Secondly, the thesis describes the hardware and softwarecomponents of the system. Finally, the study shows the overall arrangement and deficienciesof the driving simulation system. The entire system mainly consists of the driver operatingsystem, computer control systems, visual and sound systems, surveillance systems, andoperation monitoring system. The mathematical model of driving simulation system dependson the theory of traction calculation to analysis the traction, resistance and braking force ofrailcar. Besides, the model can utilize the state of line and driver’s operation to analyze thestate of motion in model, which is reflected by running speed at last. The major hardwarecomponents are consist of industrial control computer, railcar operation monitoring device,driver console and projection equipment, and also includes collecting and transmitting fordata and the external signal processing circuit. The software components are centered oncomputer control system, and are based on the C++builder development platform, then vialogical calculation to connect with other subsystems, to achieve the logical and signalprocessing of data and controlling of view and sound. There will generate the assessmentreport of railcar drivers finally. The study shows the railcar driving simulation, and describesthe appearance and layout of the system, the basic operation and various functions of thesystems, and also introduces the current inadequacies and the functions to be improved of thedriving simulation systems.
